My name is Shobna and I am a cut flower grower and floral artisan in Watford. I started growing flowers from seed in my back garden a few years ago and selling them locally. I soon realised that I had a lot of flowers and couldn’t sell everything I grew.

ABOUT US
Not wanting any of my blooms to go to waste, I began drying and pressing everything unsold in my little workshop at home. What started as a way to avoid waste soon turned into a creative passion. I began designing and creating a variety of handmade floral pieces using dried and pressed flowers. Today, that passion has grown into a small local floral business called Seedling & Stem.
I create handmade pressed flower cards, dried flower cards, pressed flower artworks (mounted and framed), bookmarks, gift tags, dried flower frames, dried flower vases and arrangements, and dried flower wreaths. I’ve also developed a Pressed Flower Card Making Kit for those who love nature and enjoy crafting or giving handmade cards & gifts.
Recently, I partnered with a local carpenter to design a flower press that is easy to use and carry to press and preserve beautiful seasonal flowers and foliage.
At the heart of everything I do is a deep commitment to sustainability. I grow seasonal cut flowers without chemicals or pesticides, using peat-free compost to promote healthy soil biology and biodiversity within my small growing space. As far as possible, I avoid single-use plastics in my processes and packaging.
Seedling and Stem is not just a business venture to me; it is my way of championing sustainable growing practices, embracing true seasonality and celebrating flowers in every stage of their life.
